A day in the Camargue from Marseille

Spend a day in the Camargue with a local guide, in an 8-seat minivan, for 1 to 8 guests. This 7-hour tour from Marseille crosses the Rhône by barge and follows the salt flats, rice paddies and ponds of the delta, where pink flamingos, white horses and black bulls live. It includes a lunch stop at a local restaurant and a visit to a bird park.

What you see on the way

The route crosses wide marshlands and lagoons, with dikes, salt flats, reed beds and rice fields. Pink flamingos feed in the shallows, and the white Camargue horses and the black bulls are part of the region’s traditions. Depending on the day, the guide takes you to Aigues-Mortes, a historic fortress town, or to Les Saintes-Maries-de-la-Mer, a village on the coast. You can also ask to learn about the gardians, the Camargue cowboys, to walk on a beach or to visit a nature reserve.
